Childhood lost: 2 deaf schools and abuse allegations spanning decades

Plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit are speaking out about alleged cases of physical, sexual and emotional abuse over decades at the Interprovincial School for the Education of the Deaf.

The case involves students who attended and often lived at the schools in Halifax and Amherst between 1913 and 1995.

An American Sign Language-English interpreter worked with CBC to facilitate communication in both languages for this story.
